 It is Classic Movie Night at the Dublin Ranch in Mission, Texas.

Tonight it is the 1948 Mexican Classic "ANGELITOS NEGROS"  "Little Black Angels" starting the legendary PEDRO INFANTE.

The movie is an Anti-Racism work of art.

YELLOWHAMMER

 

Way back in the late 1990s this band played at The Millennium  Coffeeshop in McAllen, Texas.  The band was called YELLOWHAMMER.  It was a hard working group that rocked.

The coffee joint was tucked away in the old part of town by the railroad tracks and the old ice house. There  was a sketchy park to the south of it.  After midnight an undercover cop was on the roof.

So last century.

DOBLE J: MUSIC IS COLORLESS

 I get looks when I say I like Heavy Metal.  People assume because I am Black that I don't like that genre.

They are wrong.

I am Afro-Mexican. My ancestors were slaves in Mexico. I was born and raised there. 

Now I'm in the Estados Unidos De America. The United States Of America.

Music is colorless.

I can Love whatever kind of music I dig.

There are two kinds of music.  There is good music and bad music.

Join me as I explore  Musica!

 WE Love Coffee!  Before Rona WE wanted to travel the U.S. of A. visiting different coffee joints!

WE are still in a Pandemic.  Coronavirus is no joke.

WE are taking an Online American Coffeehouse Tour!

The last time this blogger was in Atlanta was in 1983 as a 20 year old Army man!

The first stop is URBAN GRIND in Atlanta,

 Georgia at 962 Marietta Street NW.

It looks like a pretty cool place.

What WE loved is that they have OPEN MIC POETRY!

That grabbed OUR heart since WE used to hit Open Mic Poetry on Friday nights at The Millennium Coffeehouse in Mcallen, Texas  in the late 1990s!

An A+Plus for this Black Owned Establishment!

AFRO-MEXICANS

 

"WE have been here for a long time. The land knows OUR footsteps." Juan Jose Gonzalez.  Doble J aka Double J is an Afro-Mexican.

He like many Mexicans came to the United States Of America to work and send money home to support his family.

To the eye he is Black. Doble J is as he says "Pyro Mexicano" All Mexican.

One day he was engaged in a football game in a park in Houston, Texas. His friends took on a group of African-Americans.  They did not know each other.

After the game one of the African-Americans said  something awful about Mexican women.

The young Afro-Mexican  punched  him in the mouth and told him why. Then he offered to "dale una paleada" aka a beating.

The startled African& American apologized and declined a fight.

Like Doble J says "We are here."

Mexico's First Black President Abolished Slavery.

TIME TO GROOVE

 

It's time to groove she said.

Then she moved her head into the clouds.

Swallowed up  whole.

Kissed by the moon.

Untouched by the sun.

Rung by the rain 

The angelic chords in her psyche.

I wouldn't see her till DINNER.

COFFEE!
